A mountainous region spanning from Winterholme all the way to the Esper Sea, Khazdal forms the largest network of mines and quarries in Drevoss. The dwarf clans claimed this region long ago and handle all of the mining operations, while various goliath tribes offer safe passage to travelers through the mountain passes.
Climate
The foothills of the Reaches feature a variety of climates, from arctic to temperate to warm. The heights of the mountains are cold and remain snow-capped year-round, while the caverns beneath are kept warm by natural insulation and the dwarven forges.
Economy
The dwarven mining network produces most of the precious metals and gems found throughout Drevoss. The lower reaches utilize natural magma reserves for forges and smelters, while the foothills bordering Dremenot grow barley and wheat which are brewed into fine dwarven ales.
Culture
In dwarven society, higher classes dwell further underground, closer to the deep reaches of earth, mineral veins, and gem deposits. The lower classes tend to agriculture and trade above ground.
The goliaths wander the forbidding mountaintops, offering safe passage and trade to those wishing to pass through.
Government
The Council of Stone is made up of elders from the various noble dwarven clans. The Council governs matters concerning the clans at large and appoints meisters to oversee operations in various territories.
The dwarf clans are content to let the goliath clans manage themselves, though the goliaths do send envoys for trade and news.
